July 2019 50 By Robert Piekow,… Publicist gecriders.com On May 18th, Glendale Equestrian Club riders took their horses out from John Deegan's Willow Hill Ranch at New River. We traveled north up the old stagecoach road through the river. The horses were able to get plenty to drink before we journeyed toward Table Mesa Road. On Table Mesa Road we passed the old cattle ranch plus enjoyed the incredible scenery and beautiful flowering cacti. We continued our ride up the hill and then about half way up we looped back around through the desert to Fig Springs. Arriving at Fig Springs we gave the horses a drink, talked for a little bit and rested. We continued our trip on a newly graded road, and then crossed the desert again going back through the bird sanctuary. Arriving safely at our trailers we all shared snacks. We rode our horses about 15 miles in five hours and all eight of us were pretty worn out; including the horses, but this was a ride no one should have missed. The Palo Verde trees and saguaros were blooming and the weather, featuring a nice cool breeze, was absolutely incredible. Glendale Equestrian Club RIDE REPORT
