AROUND THE HOUSE 1 Take any nail polish, apply two coats, and you're done. That's how easy this DIY project is. Remove with nail polish remover, and you can start all over with new colors. It's definitely cheaper than buying key covers for all of the members of your household and much easier to personalize. 2 This super fun DIY wine bottle and glasses holder is a one-stop shop for your carrying needs. Going on a picnic? Grab away. Headed to your patio? Why make multiple trips, you’ve got it all in one hand, leaving you free to grab the cheese tray too! The good news is that this is relatively easy and also inexpensive. If you have a decently stocked garage this can be whipped up in a snap. Here’s what you’ll need and what could be helpful: 1 x 8 board (you’ll only need 7 1/2 inches, so the smallest you can find at your store) saw (I used a miter saw, but a hand or jigsaw could work if you have a steady hand) drill 5/8" drill bit 1 1/2" drill bit scroll saw or jigsaw. Optional: drill press 1 1/4" drill bit Dremel tool. Okay, so not too bad, right? Cut your board to be square 7 1/2" by 7 1/2”. You’ll want to take the opportunity to measure and mark where each glass and the bottle will sit. This could vary slightly if you have a favorite set of glasses that you want to use. 3 Stain a six-foot board, giving it two coats and letting it dry in between coats. After letting it dry for four to six hours (per the instructions on the stain can), it’s time to make it look like a ruler. Get a pencil, a ballpoint pen, an acrylic ruler, and a paint pen. This is where it gets a little tricky, but it’s worth it! Mark off 1-inch marks along the entire length of the board. In order to mimic the lines on a ruler, make the “quarter” lines two inches long and the “eighth” lines one inch long. Make sense? Draw all the lines in pencil first, then go back and go over them with the paint pen. This picture gives you a good idea of how to do the lines... for wall hanging mark off the “ruler” at six inches. If you’d rather rest it on the floor, start marking at one inch. So, your 6-foot board ends up looking more like a 6 ½ foot “ruler.” Find a font you like and print out the numbers one through six in 200 point font. Rub a pencil on the back of the numbers, place the numbers where you like and trace the numbers with the ballpoint pen. This will leave a slight indention and pencil lines on the actual board. Simply fill that outline in with the paint pen. It requires a little bit of a steady hand, but you’ll get the hang of it! After creating the “ruler,” spray the entire board with a clear coat to protect your work. This still allows you to measure your child’s height and mark on it but gives it a finished look. 4 The best and easiest way to make DIY coffee table is by using cardboard. Though many people can make it with wooden material it requires lots of work and time as well. To make a coffee table, you simply need to cut a sheet of cardboard in any shape of your choice. The most easy-to-cut shape is square. The rectangular shape of cardboard would also look best in the garden or backyard of your home. If you are going to make a table at home, don’t try to make it longer. Now it’s time to cut four equal wooden sticks. These sticks would bear the weight of stuff which you’ll put over it. Therefore, you need to choose solid wooden thick sticks. The best way is to affix the table to the sticks is by using nails. It won’t be useful for you to paste the four sides of a table with the cardboard. Try to decorate the table by using oil paints and make attractive designs on it. After applying paint, leave the table to get dry for minimum two days. Your DIY coffee table is ready to use and you can even use it in front of your guests. This little effort can save lots of your hard earned money. You can also make it to present as a gift to someone special in your life.
