Producing Premium Horse & Cattle Feed Since 1985 Closed on Christmas and New Years Day By Liz Potof The CSPPC began the fall season by welcoming California Peruvian Paso exhibitors on their way to the Peruvian National Horse Show in Fort Worth, Texas. It turned out to be a challenging trip for some due to trailer issues. Fortunately their problem was resolved and that group went on to their next layover in El Paso. The second group stabled at the beautiful A-BAR-A / El Samaritano Equestrian Facility in Scottsdale. From all reports the show was a grand success and to make it even more exciting this same group exhibited Gobernador DR, the BEST GAITED HORSE OF SHOW and he was also CHAMPION of CHAMPION Luxury Gelding. Gobernador DR is owned and shown by Trish Clark Palmer of Santa Ynez CA. Kudos, she said, go to her trainer, Tony Botello, who helped make all these awards possible.  The CSPPC is turning its attention now to the possibility of having Peruvian Paso classes at the Carousel Charity Horse Show at WEST WORLD in March. Stay tuned for that development. If there are people out there that are Peruvian Paso owners or know someone who is and would like more information on showing or trail riding, please contact us. Our contact information is at the end of this article. The two clinics the club is planning for spring are: Master Chalan Oscar Quijandria, Peruvian horse trainer, whose training facility is in Winchester CA. Oscar is originally from Ica, Peru and has worked with Peruvians since his childhood in Peru. The second is with Nicole Brass, a very talented and skilled horsewoman. She comes from a family who has bred and raised Peruvians for years. In her “other life”, she is a champion barrel racer and cowgirl. Both clinics should be very interesting so stay tuned and look for more detailed information coming out next month. Each month we try to feature “Peruvian Pasos of the Past”. Below is a picture of 28 year old Muneca de Porcelana RdAZ. This lovely palomino mare with the silver mane and tail was a showstopper back in her horse show days, winning many titles at local competitions. Owned by Adam and Michele Wilson, Muneca is now retired and lives her life as a cherished addition to their ranch in Desert Hills. Muneca is listed on the Peruvian Paso Longevity Report because of her age. The Longevity Report is a listing of Peruvians over the age of 20, noting their age and showing that Peruvians do indeed live happy long lives. Join CSPPC on our Facebook page and like us. We look forward to hearing from you. If you have questions or comments, please call Liz at 602-799-4913 or Michele at 602-540-2135.
