This column is about roping, and was recently watching TV and saw an ad for someIll stick to that subject here, but you can take this coins that were for sale.mindset and it will apply to any successful person inDale WoodardWeve all seen them they mintany field or endeavor.Horse Stalls them and then sell them for a tidy profit. I wasnt payingI have never regretted going to the arena andHorse Fence much attention when they saidpracticing. Ill be honest there have been plentyworking the chutes. I kept glancing over at Dale to something that stood out to me. I thought it was aof times that I have dreaded it. When it is reallysee if he was showing any signs of wanting to quit, brilliant sales tactic but when I thought about it reallyhot outside or cold and you have worked all dayhe did not, he acted like it was a perfect sunny day. IMare Motels could be something we should think about every day.sometimes it is really hard to go back outside, saddlekept turning steers for Dale because I was not going They boldly said, Order now to save disappointmentup, and practice. I can honestly tell you that afterto quit before he wanted to. After we had ropedPipe Fence and regret. Who can argue with that? Who doesntI did it, I never said, Well I wish I hadnt ropedfour or five more steers it was really starting to want to avoid disappointment and regret? Me beingtoday. I was always glad I did. On the few occasionsrain, I looked at Dale and again he was smiling and me, I thought about this simple statement. It broughtI didnt put the weather aside and go rope I wasacting as if the weather was perfect. We were ridingProperty/me back to when I was in my early twenties, I had adisappointed in myself and my level of effort. If Iback to the chutes after taking our ropes off and he friend who was very close to an older gentleman whocouldnt rope on a certain day, I never regrettedlooked at me and said Isnt this great? I was so Perimeter Fence was sick and did not have long to live. My friend toldexercising my horses. It was the days that I putshocked I didnt know what to say other than What me something that this older gentleman had told himno effort in that I was disappointed. Just like theis? He looked right at me and said, Man how often something that can only come from experience. HeDog/Yard Fencehad told my friend that his biggest regrets werent for things he had done, his biggest regrets were the thingsCarports and MORE! he had NOT done. SpecializingI have a quote that is framed and sits on my desk in Customwhere I can see it every day. Its kind of long but I Work ofwill condense it because I think it goes right along All Kinds! with what the gentlemen told my friend. Basically, it says that you may not be satisfied with the outcome of something youre trying to accomplish but you should never be dissatisfied in your effort to try and achieve the desired outcome. I used this a lot when I was rodeoing. I may not have won first or even placed at all, but did I put in the effort, did I practice enough or correctly? In other words, did I do all I could do to be prepared to put out my best effort? I would ask myself this question about every aspect, was my horse in good shape was I in good shape did I have enough sleep did I take proper care of my ropes. As you can see there is no end to the questions you can ask yourself. It's really about holding yourself accountable for your efforts regardless of the outcome. I truly believe this is whatgentlemen told my friend his biggest regrets are thedo you get to practice in the rain in Arizona, well things that he didnt do and just like the saying onbe prepared when we have to rope in it at a roping? my desk I was disappointed in my effort to have aI knew right then we were not quitting until we good outcome more than I was in the outcome. were out of steers. It was at that moment that I knew why Dale Woodard was so good. When we got back One of my favorite people to be around and talk toto the chutes, we had lost our chute help, so we is Dale Woodard. Dale is one of the most positivewound up being done but we never quit. Thank you people you could ever hope to be around. Dale and Ifor that Dale. were at a practice pen one day quite a few years ago and there were probably ten to twelve people there.Until next time, Ill see you at the back of the box. This was before very many people had automatic chutes and this place was no exception. The cloudsI would like to thank my sponsors, Usher started to gather, and it started to sprinkle.
