b'CHARITY OF THE MONTHB etter Piggies Rescue is a 501c3betterpiggiesrescue.orgnon-profit organization located in Phoenix that rescues, rehabilitates,Facebook/Instagram/TikTok: adopts, and educates about pot belly@betterpiggiespigs and farm hogs. Established in 2018,Paypal.me/betterpiggiesrescueDanielle Betterman (owner/director)Director: Danielle Bettermansaw the amount of pot belly pigs beingRescue Manager: Dwight Dixonabandoned, after owners who did not do their research, realized that these animals do not stay small. Pot belly pigs have always been a passion for Danielle, since receiving one as a gift over 12 years ago. She educated herself on how to care for a pot belly pig and helped other organizations and rescues when needed. Her first pot belly pig is the reason for the rescuehis name is Beezer and he is still at the rescue today.Better Piggies Rescue partners with other non-profits and sanctuaries to bring awareness to pig ownership.Rescuing over 400 pigs last year from the desert, abandonment in homes, and off of city streets, the need to rescue these pigs never stops. Working with other organizations allows Better Piggies to help more pigs (pot bellies and farm hogs) and place them in homes when a sanctuary is not a viable option. Better Piggies works alongside Ironwood Pig Sanctuary, Circle L Ranch, AZ Piggy Network, and Freed Spirits Animal Rescue to name a few. There are a couple of ways to visit Better Piggies. You can schedule a tour or participate in the volunteer orientation that is held every month. These dates are available on their website at betterpiggiesrescue.org. All visits must be scheduled in advance and they do not welcome drop-ins as this is a closed sanctuary. To schedule a group tour for over 10+ people please email betterpiggiesrescue@gmail.com. Volunteers will help clean up poop, refill pools and wallows, and clean out hay, however, the biggest volunteer need is to just sit with the rescue pigs and allow them to work on trusting people. Since all these pigs were rescued from very stressful situations, they need to relearn that people wont hurt them. Volunteers can also sign up to help on rescues for when resources are short in various Maricopa cities. They have over 130 pigs on-site, plus three liberated cows and a horse, and there is no sign of intake letting up. Better Piggies Rescue is a great resource for current piggy parents or those looking to adopt their first pig. Adoptions are available to approved applicants and all pigs are spayed/neutered before being rehomed. Better Piggies has pigs of all shapes, sizes, ages, and temperaments. Many of their pigs are bonded with others so they do encourage dual adoptions and never split up bonded pairs. They also help with integrating the pig(s) into your home, your family and other animals to ensure a smooth transition and lifelong pet ownership.Better Piggies is in urgent need of monetary donations for the many medical expenses that come with running a rescuespays/neuters, emergency care, and daily medication. All donations are tax-deductible and a tax receipt is available upon request.EVERY rescue pig that comes into the sanctuary gets emergency medical attention from their vets at Arizona Mobile Vet Clinic (arizonamobilevet.com). Their amazing vets ensure that all their pigs are given the care they need and deserve.
