March 2018 34 The National Day of the Cowboy nonprofit organization, in conjunction with Henry Repeating Arms, is proud to offer the rare opportunity to own a one-of-a-kind, uniquely inscribed Henry Golden Boy rifle with a custom engraved receiver cover. We’ve teamed up with Henry to create this one, very special, commemorative NDOC rifle that is sure to be treasured by the person fortunate enough to own it. We feel it makes a perfect gift for a birthday, retirement, graduation, Father’s Day, Mother’s Day, military service, or just about any other occasion you can think of. Of course, it will also make a magical gift to honor someone on the National Day of the Cowboy. And, while it will indeed make a unique present for a friend or family member, you could simply treat yourself and hang on to it if you’re the lucky winner. The special details on this Henry Golden Boy .22 Long Rifle include the engraving of the National Day of the Cowboy logo on the rifle butt and an engraved “13th Annual National Day of the Cowboy” receiver cover. This beautiful piece with its octagonal barrel and looped lever also features its very own, customized serial number; “NDOC2017.” As an added bonus, this remarkable firearm will arrive at your door in its own custom-built presentation case. Longtime NDOC Board Member, Darrell Wyatt, has pulled all of this together and is managing the details. In addition, as the proud owner of two NDOC Gist Buckles, he is offering NDOC Gist buckle #99 as a second prize in the drawing, to encourage more people to support this fundraiser. We had only 100 NDOC Gist Buckles made, each individually numbered, and then we retired the design. There will be only 100 raffle squares sold, each for $25. Squares are assigned after all 100 are sold and just before the drawing takes place. This will be the only Henry Rifle we raffle dated “2017”. You may recall that Anthony Imperato, CEO of Henry Repeating Arms, donated two Henry Long Colt Big Boy Rifles to us in 2015, to support our work and our fundraising. We sold one of those at auction for $2,250 and one was the prize in a raffle just like this one. Darrell Wyatt is also a long time cowboy fast draw participant in Virginia and he is well versed in the finer points of handling the details of getting this rifle shipped to the Federal Firearms Licensee (FFL) selected by the winner. Once the winning ticket is drawn and the winner is notified, the winner must provide a shipping transfer FFL to the FFL currently holding the Henry rifle. The FFL then establish the 4th Saturday in July as a day to celebrate cowboy culture and pioneer heritage in all fifty states. To date, 12 states have passed our bill into law. Although some believe the Cowboy Day has already been approved by Congress and a U.S. President; that did not happen. At the congressional level, the Cowboy Day merely passes as a one-day resolution in Congress each year, provided it is sponsored by a US Senator and/or US Representative that session. Please remember, we’re only selling one hundred chances to win this one-of-a-kind National Day of the Cowboy spectacular Henry Golden Boy .22 Long Rifle, so we encourage you to get your name on some of those squares while they last. And if you don’t win the rifle, you might still win the stunning Gist NDOC #99 Belt Buckle. Darrell will alert us once all the tickets are sold and he will return any checks received after the 100th slot is sold. Hats off to the cowboy! HOW TO OWN A ONE-OF-A-KIND Henry Golden Boy Rifle submits a request for a background check on the buyer. It is the responsibility of the raffle winner to make arrangements with a Federal Firearms Licensee as to where they want the rifle shipped. Gunsmiths and firearms retailers have such a license. They usually charge a fee for doing the paperwork; typically that fee is around $25. Any transfer fees, plus the cost of shipping the rifle and its presentation case will be paid by the winning ticket holder. Please be aware that by law, possession of the NDOC Henry rifle cannot be facilitated until the buyer’s background check clearance is received by the FFL. If all 100 of the tickets are sold before July 28th, 2018, then the drawing will be held on July 28th, the 14th Annual National Day of the Cowboy. The final drawing for the Henry will be held in Amelia Court House, VA when all 100 squares have been sold. All proceeds benefit the National Day of the Cowboy 501c3 organization which is working to permanently To have your name added to the rifle raffle board, send a check in the amount of $25 per square, made out to National Day of the Cowboy.
