If you want happiness for a day, go fishing. If you want happiness for a year, inherit a fortune. If you want happiness for a lifetime, help somebody.” And so we learn early: It is better to give than to receive. Scientific research provides compelling data to support the evidence that giving is a powerful pathway to personal growth and lasting happiness. Even the bible talks about helping in so many verses but one that sticks out is Hebrews 6:10 “God is not unjust, he will not forget your work and the love you have shown him as you have helped his people and continue to help them”. 5 Reasons Helping Others Equals Happiness: 1HELPING OTHERS ACTUALLY MAKES YOU FEEL GREAT Giving back has an effect on your body. Studies show that when people donated to charity, the mesolimbic system, the portion of the brain responsible for feelings of reward, was triggered. 2GIVING CAN BOOST YOUR SELF-ESTEEM Experts explain that as feelings of social connectedness increase so does your self-esteem. The benefits of volunteering also depend on your consistency. So, the more regularly you volunteer, the more confidence you’ll be able to cultivate. 3YOU’LL HAVE STRONGER FRIENDSHIPS When you help others, you give off positive vibes, which can rub off on your peers and improve your friendships, according to a study by the National Institutes of Health. 4YOU BECOME A GLASS HALF FULL PERSON Experts say that performing acts of kindness boosts your mood and ultimately makes you more optimistic and positive. 5YOU FEEL A SENSE OF BELONGING Whether with a large group of people in a volunteer organization, or just between two friends exchanging words of advice, helping people creates a feeling of community. We want to use the media we own to help others, not divide or tear people apart. Every day we get calls and emails about organizations that just need some exposure and help. If your group or organization has not reached out, please do so by emailing us at info@963RealCountry.com. We would love to do what we can to help you achieve your goals.
