Do you have thoughts of lighted ferris wheels, delicious Fair food, and trying to win your favorite stuffed animal? Well, there’s all that and more at the Maricopa County Fair! Join Maricopa County 4-H at the Maricopa County Fair on April 11-15th. 4-H members have been working hard throughout the year to prepare and train their animals, develop some great hands-on projects and displays, and learn about the project that they will showcase at the County Fair. The Maricopa County Fair is held annually at the Maricopa County Fairgrounds. The Fair features the largest county fair carnival in Phoenix with over 35 rides, a large selection of food offerings, and most importantly it is the culmination of the projects that 4-H’ers have been working on throughout the year. For more information about 4-H, please call us at 602-827-8275, we’d be happy to talk with you about your interest in the Maricopa County 4-H Program! The County Fair boasts everything mentioned above and more! It gives families time to make great memories together; it gives youth a chance to show others all that they have learned in the past year, it allows friendships to be made, and fun to be had! Our 4-H members will fill the 4-H General Exhibit Area with over 600 projects! Amazing projects made with 4-H members’ own hands, minds, and hearts will show fairgoers just some of what our 4-H members are learning. Fairgoers can also tour the barns where hundreds of animals that our 4-H members have fed, raised, and prepared for showing will call home for the week! This year 4-H’ers will have the opportunity to present their projects at our new 4-H General Projects Day on April 7th. This new opportunity for Maricopa County 4-H members will be a day where they get the chance to share what they have learned with a knowledgeable adult who will ask them project specific questions regarding what they have learned, what went well with their project, what mistakes they learned from, and what they enjoyed the most about their projects. This type of judging is called Conference Judging, where youth walk away from the conversation knowing what they can improve on and what they did well. While 4-H General Projects Day is not open to the public, as mentioned above, we encourage you to come to the 4-H General Exhibit Area during Fair Week to see what great things our 4-H members have done!
