If you read that title and your first response was to blame the President or former President or any politician, STOP. You’re watching too much cable TV news. Yes, we all have a news source that we listen to because it delivers the news we like to hear and espouses the politics we support. Our magazine wants to be a place for entertainment. “BUT” I feel it gets to a point when we start to lose sight of what really matters and what really, is going on. On the front of the magazine every month it reads “God - Family – Country” for a reason. When I wake up and start my day I have a choice of which attitude I will put on today. A positive attitude can really go a long way in making it a positive day. If you first recognize that we’re not in control and what happens around us will happen, you’re way ahead of most. As we start our day, are we only polite to specific individuals? Do we open doors only for certain people? Do we only have one agenda for our purpose of the day? Do we close our minds to others ideas? I didn't think so. We hold the door for whoever the person is behind us, without a thought, we listen to what others have to say, we multitask all day and we say please and thank you because it is the way we were brought up. The world is getting faster and more connected than ever before. From the past, right up to today we have been encouraged to be our best. President Kennedy said, “If not us, who? If not now, when?” President George H. Bush stated, “I’m conservative, but I’m not a nut about it.” President Bill Clinton remarked, “There is nothing wrong with America that cannot be cured by what is right with America.” President George W Bush said, “We will not tire, we will not falter, we will not fail.” President Obama pointed out, “There’s not a liberal America and a conservative America - there’s the United States Of America.” President Trump remarked, “I would rather take a political risk in pursuit of peace than to risk peace in pursuit of politics.” Are you an adder, multiplier or divider to the world you live in and those around you? It amazes me how a TV camera or microphone put in front of someone can get them to do or say almost anything, good or bad. Some people just want those 5 seconds of being seen and heard. What would you do with your 5 seconds? Maybe we should have titled this “The Good Ol’ Days.” Where would your mind have gone then? The Andy Griffith show, turning the crank on homemade ice cream, a family picnic after church on Sunday, picking up your phone and hearing people on the party line, two-cent candy or maybe a time in the past when you think life was better. You can make the “Good Ol’ Days” happen today if you choose to participate. Don’t let the world influence you… instead I hope you influence the world around you in a positive manner. Correction: In the Arizona Duuude article, page 9 of the July 2018 edition, entitled George Phippen, the Phippen Museum & Cowboy in a Storm we mistakenly spelled Edd Kellerman's name.We apologize for the error. 44 9 35
