b'FOR THAT PERSONAL TOUCHCowboy WisdomTHAT WONT LEAVE A PRINT. CALLEVERYONE480-795-0617 HAS TALENTSBy Pete FloresTexas rancher, passing on Cowboy wisdom and serving the Lord.W hen I was in graduate school and doing my graduate research at the 22,000-acre La Paloma Ranch, I had several roles. I lived on the ranch and when I was not collecting research data, I was one of the cowhands or a tractor driver. Since I grew up on our family ranch and farm I was one of the few cowhands that had actual experience operating farm equipment. That was fine with me, being raised on horseback and on a WINDOW CLEANINGPOWER WASHING tractor and I felt right at home. CHANDELIERS / MIRRORS All of the cowboys were assigned nine horses. Some of the horses were green broke and some were well-seasoned. Seems like a lot, but as much riding as we did, we were short WATER SPOT REMOVALSCREEN CLEANINGon horses. When we worked the back pastures, over 3,000 acres of pasture, we would take COMMERCIAL / RESIDENTIAL three horses per day. The back pastures main soil was deep sand. It was so sandy that we pulled the gooseneck trailers with tractors. I always chose my horse depending on the job at hand and made sure not to use the same horses all the time. This was especially important when working on the back pastures since we were gone all day and did not return to HQ until the end of the day. I chose my horses carefully by how I would ride them during the day. My rationale for choosing a horse for each day, (keep in mind I rode Now alsoa different horse as the day progressed) depended on the terrain, the horses unique talent at Kikisand the task for the day. For example, Blue could run and walk all day through deep sand Kottage!or thick brush, he never tired. I always used Blue during the first part of the day when we 2050 W Wickenburgwould ride through the pastures and push cattle to the pens on the first pass. El Coyote, a Way, Suite 3big ole stout Sorrel was always my second horse to ride. After we did the first and second Wickenburg, AZ passes, what was left out in the pasture had to be brought in at the end of a rope. I could count on El Coyote to drag anything back, no matter the size. For pen work, I used El Rosio, yep Rosie a red roan-looking horse. Not as big as Blue or El Coyote but quick on his Fine Antiques, Native Indian Jewelry, feet and strong. He did not back down from any cow. He pushed cows through the chute Art, Home Decor & Great Gift Ideas or sat at the gate and cut as a hot knife would cut thru butter. Each horse had a special talent. Which was the best horse? All were the best horse for the talent that was bestowed upon them. The team of three completed the mission. We should never talk badly about another fellers horse because we do not know his true talent. In life, we use our different talents as a team to get the Lords work done. Understanding each individuals talent and bringing it out is very important in doing the Lords work.
