Well, I hadn't. I just assumed that trotting, cantering, and galloping were whatto make sure I was intentional about you wanted in a horse. Boy was I wrong. The lessonkeeping life in my bones, and cultivating that has been driven home the past few weeks is a fast walk, fast walk, and fast walk. I talk often aboutmy own fast walk so that I am ready to this concept and how important it is for the horses.serve others in meaningful ways.Basically, it goes like this: you want the horse to have good life in his walk and actions. By life, I mean some vigor, quick responsiveness to the rider's cues,maneuvers and he will be more difficult to ride in willing to get up and move at the rate you need him togeneral. It's something a rider has to constantly work without much delayand you need him to be able toatnoticing, tweaking, and asking for more.be this way even at a walking pace. That pace needs to be a pretty decent clip too.I have realized how relevant this is to other aspects of life. How often, do we as people become dull toand even change direction when life seems to be Accomplishing this is easier said than done. One oflife? Dull to the cues around us? Dull to either ourpointing us that way. Otherwise, we risk becoming the ways you can cultivate good life in the horse isown needs or the needs of others around us? Dull todisconnected from our hearts - dull to them perhaps to continually practice his walking stride at a fastour hearts? Dull to the suffering of others? Dull to- in ways that were never the original design for our pace so that he's consistently at that edge where if hethe subtle mercy and graces we are given and beingsouls. The danger is in becoming too used to that dull went any faster, he'd be at a trot. It takes some carefulthankful for them? Dull because we've been throughstate, such that we get forever comfortable with that attentiveness from the rider, because oftentimes thetrauma or abuse and can't take one more rider?state of being.
