In the pursuit of happiness, how do you get there? My happiest times include my family. As a kid growing up my Mom did everything she could to make sure the family stayed together and connected with each other. She always had things happening for us kids. Some of the happy times included biking from Omaha to Elkhorn with a bunch of friends, going to Merit Beach, parties at the house, tours she arranged with our friends to places like Coca- Cola, Roberts Dairy, Omaha Waterworks, Wonder Bread and many others. The happy times also included travel, with trips to New York, California, Wyoming, Canada, Minnesota, Florida and the list could keep going. All the trips were in the family car, which meant a lot of time together. Our last trip together happened in 2016 with a trip in the car with Mom, Dad, Carm and myself to Bryce Canyon which rewarded us with, time together. Nowadays, my wife, Carm has taken over that role and keeps the family activity happening. We do family dinners once a month and everyone gets together at the house for dinner and of course a game. There is something about playing a game together or putting a puzzle together that she equates to happiness. Yes, I participate, except for the puzzle thing, I just watch. Now if we turned it into speed puzzling and a contest I’m in. We take trips together as a family and wow does that take coordination, with 5 sons, 4 daughters-in-law and one granddaughter. Last summer we rented a 5 bedroom beach house and loved 5 days together under one roof. OH, BIG NEWS we’re going to have a grandson. My son Dillon and his wife Portia had an ultrasound done and it’s a BOY. Can you tell how happy I am? I guess I found my happy place with more family. HAPPY, HAPPY, HAPPY! May you find happiness with these 6 steps: 1. Think Less, Feel More; 2. Frown Less, Smile More; 3. Talk Less, Listen More; 4. Judge Less, Accept More; 5. Watch Less, Do More 6. Complain Less, Appreciate More. Love you Mom! Mike Barna, Publisher mbarna@963realcountry.com 42 1 0 46
