October 2017 40 Wild West Days is a town wide event that embraces all that is ‘western’ and ‘wild’. The merchants throughout town offer events that appeal to all ages and interests from Bull Riding to ‘Hog’ Riding (motorcycle that is) and everything in between. The events begin on Friday night with Bull Riding at the Buffalo Chip and end Sunday with the 2nd Annual Motorcycle Ride with KSU (Kick Stands Up) at 10:00 from the RoadHouse. Of course the Wild West Days Parade kicks off the events on Saturday at 9:00 and then you are invited to participate in activities designed to keep everyone entertained. There will be family fun at the Horny Toad, free face painting at Big Earl’s for the young and young at heart from 11:00 to 3:00 and a Bloody Mary bar for the adults during the parade. At Frontier Town enjoy stick horse building and races, ½ Pie Eating Contest, panning for gold, and gun slingers and ladies enactments throughout the day. Plus everyone is a winner with the Quick Duck Draw and you can find ‘gold’ hidden around Frontier Town for prizes also. Of course Mutton Bustin’ takes place immediately following the parade at the Buffalo Chip. You can register your little cowboy or cowgirl online or at the event. Be sure to bring your cameras to catch a memory of the bustin’. Then meander over to Harold’s for the Pig Races or join the night life of music and dancing beginning at 9:00 with Mogoion for the Wild West Days Dance.
