On September 11, 2018, Payson Thomas Barna came into this world. My son Dillon and his wife Portia delivered the most precious gift for this grandparent to adore and love. I can hold that boy for hours, talk to him and get teary-eyed the whole time. This is grandchild number 2 for us. Rileigh is now 8-years-old and totally spoiled by grandma. She’s the girl grandpa went on the roller coaster and water slides with this summer. The things we do for our grandkids, right? As I mention new life I'm hoping that summer is about over so I can get a new outlook on life. The summer heat is making it tougher and tougher for me to keep up a good attitude. I try to focus on the fact that cooler weather is on the way. There is nothing better than driving down the road with the windows open and the radio turned up. There are many events happening this fall and winter here in Arizona and we will try to keep you up to date on as many as we can. First up on October 6th at the Flying E Ranch in Wickenburg we’ll be hosting the first “96.3 Cattle Drive” of the season. Don’t say you’re bored or there’s nothing to do. If you’ve never been on a cattle drive before try it you might like it. We’re looking for some “City Slickers” and some seasoned cowpokes. We'll show up on the morning of October 6th at the Flying E Ranch and select a horse for the day. After we talk and get acquainted with the other 30 or so people, our wranglers will head us out in search of cattle. As we round up the strays and get them in a herd we will take a lunch break on the trail and Cooky will grill us up some burgers with all the fixins. After a great lunch, we’ll get back on our horse and drive the cattle into the ranch. Once we get all the cattle in, it’s time for some games and we’ll have a timed penning contest against our fellow cowboys and cowgirls. After that, we come in to have a little happy hour and swap stories of the day as the dinner cookout is being prepared. Time to relax, eat a steak and did I mention we also have a band for the night. You can sing along or get up and dance to end a great day on the Flying E Ranch trail. It promises to be something you’ll talk about for weeks to come. Did I say we have a horse for all ages? Hope to see you on the 96.3 & Flying E Ranch Cattle Drive.
