b"A COWBOYRESTS IN HEAVENTROY T. MURRAY JR.193512/21/2021T roy Murray went home peacefully to his Lord and Savior on December 21, 2021. He was 86, born in 1935 in Clarkdale, Arizona to Troy T. Murray Sr. and Veda Newcomb Murray. He had three sisters and two brothers. He always was proud of being an Arizona native. He grew up in Prescott. He studied to be a pastor at Grand Canyon College. He married Marilyn Reh (19561984) and they had two daughters, Jinger Murray Richardson and Missy Murray Anderson. In 1961 Troy worked at Porter's Western Wear and also pastored a small church near Walnut Grove for five years.Troy and Marilyn opened Troy's Western Store, a clothing and tack store on Main Street in Scottsdale in 1963. They added Troy's Cowboy Art Gallery in 1968. Troy became well-known in the realm of western art and represented many outstanding western artists, including Howard Terpning and Olaf Wieghorst.He was very active in helping to build Old Town Scottsdale and the western character that remains today. He served on the Scottsdale Board of Adjustments; he was a member of Scottsdale Chamber of Commerce, Jaycees, Scottsdale Mounted Sheriff's Posse, and Scottsdale Charros. Troy served as a board member of Scottsdale Bible Church and was one of the original board members and founders of Scottsdale Christian Academy. He also co-sponsored a large men's Bible study called Master's Men. Giving back to many causes and generously giving of his time to family and friends was his passion.Troy was a true cowboy at heart, he was also known as an avid trader and collector of western art and memorabilia. He was a great storyteller and loved sharing with others about the Old West; he could make history come to life. Troy was an expert horseman and an avid outdoorsman. He loved to hunt and fish and knew almost every inch of Arizona. He enjoyed his travels which included Africa and Alaska in his hunting adventures.After several years of courtship, Troy married artist Bernadette Hughes in 2004. They shared a deep passion for art, history, the west, and loving the Lord. After selling his gallery in 1998, Troy enjoyed retirement with Bernadette and lived in Scottsdale until his death from Parkinson's and Lewy Body Dementia. Troy touched many lives in profound ways, his huge heart, warm smile, kindness, and constant love for his family and friends will be missed by all.He is survived by his wife, Bernadette; daughters, Jinger (Brad) Richardson, Missy (Lyle) Anderson; grandchildren Brad (Ashley) Richardson Jr., Janell (John) Grady, Ashley (Nick) Czupryn; and great-grandchildren, Roman, Knox, and Goldie Richardson, Cole and Beau Grady.
