ArizonaRealCountry.com 11 December 2018 Over the past three decades, the WSM 911 Toy Drive has distributed nearly five million toys and gifts through the hands of men and women from police and fire departments across Arizona. These public safety professionals encounter people in great need at their most critical and vulnerable times. The toys provide a tiny in-road for officers to show their compassion for the children caught in situations, not of their own making. We also provide gifts for military families in need year- round. We strive to change lives every day, and most of those we help never know our name. An undertaking like this is possible only with the support of our community. For a number of years, the Valley Chevy Dealers have partnered with the WSM 911 Toy Drive to provide drop-off locations where individuals can conveniently donate toys. With an average of 140,000 toys going out each year, this collaboration is invaluable in allowing the public an easy way to participate. And the need is particularly great for donations of gifts for young teens, both boys, and girls. In the past, many civic groups, small businesses, and even families have supported the WSM 911 Toy Drive by having their members donate toys in lieu of gift exchanges. We are grateful for the support, marvel at the creativity, and are happy to send a truck to pick up the toys! Other 911 Support Programs include Critical Incident Assistance, construction and maintenance of Fallen Officer Memorials (five locations to date), Fallen Heroes Flags for services, Roadside Crosses honoring officers killed in the line of duty, toys for family shelters following forest fires or flooding emergencies, Adopt-A-Highway, and National Police Week Support in both Arizona and Washington D.C. annually in May. America loses an officer in the line of duty about every three days. To ensure these courageous public servants are never forgotten, W. Steven Martin, the President and Founder of the W. Steven Martin Police Toy Drive Foundation, Inc., currently sits on the Arizona Attorney General’s Law Enforcement Memorial Board and also served on the committee that built the Arizona DPS Memorial Statue in front of the Arizona Department of Safety headquarters in Phoenix. Our work is funded through contributions from businesses and individuals like you. As you consider your end-of-year giving, please consider joining us in support of the men and women of public safety who serve our communities. THE W. STEVEN MARTIN 911 SUPPORT PROGRAM IS TOYS AND MUCH MORE! The W. Steven Martin 911 Support Program is a 501(c) (3) charity, and your donation is tax-deductible.
