December 2018 16 Cave Creek, Arizona has long been a destination of mine beginning when I rode in the Cave Creek Centennial Parade in 1970. I was riding with the western group “Guns for Hire" out of Scottsdale. Since then I have continued visiting Cave Creek over the years and gathering many friends along the way. Harold’s Corral was the center of cowboy activity at the time. Harold was usually sitting at the bar. Harold was the main attraction and he attracted a long line of characters like ourselves looking for a good time. So between Harold’s and the Sweet Tooth Saloon at Pinnacle Peak Patio Steakhouse, where I was the bar manager, we would take turns going back and forth harassing each other and any patrons that happened to get in the way. One of the more notorious groups I remember was Al Rantz and his “Dirty Shirt Gang." They were pretty wild, so it really surprised me when Al went on to become Mayor of Cave Creek. His portrait hangs in the Cave Creek Museum. The Peagler family purchased the Frontier Town property in 1969. So in the spring of 1970, as the Centennial Parade passed by (going east to west, now it is west to east) they watched and waved, and I on horseback waved back as I passed by. Little did we know then that later in life we would become good friends, and work many events together at Frontier Town. Now the best is yet to come. Recently I met with Fran Booth of Booth Communications, Inc.who is the communications & marketing director for Six Gun Entertainment. The following is the official press release for Frontier Town written by Fran: By Bob Roloff, “The Arizona Duuude” You can follow Bob Roloff on Facebook. THE ARIZONA DUUUDE Like a Phoenix rising from the ashes, FRONTIER TOWN, one of Arizona's only remaining western town destinations, has undergone a massive property expansion to become the first western entertainment destination to be opened in Arizona in more than a decade. Arizona's past crowd-pleasing western and entertainment venues have virtually disappeared. According to Marc Peagler, general manager of FRONTIER TOWN, the Wild West will come alive with the creation of a one-of-a-kind western town and the scheduling of action-packed western entertainment provided by Six Gun Entertainment, LLC. Award-winning Six Gun Entertainment performs stunt and acting shows that thrill western aficionados, residents, tourists, and corporate businesses. “FRONTIER TOWN, which turns 50 years old in 2019, is preparing for the next century by bringing the excitement of the missing Wild West experience to residents, business groups and tourists alike," says Peagler. “Over the years, Arizona has lost so many wonderful western locations due to growth, construction and lack of focus on our roots as Americans-the real Wild West. Chaz Lee, director of affairs and stunt coordinator for Six Gun Entertainment, says the authentic town, Greasewood, which also is a stunt theater, will be home to numerous Wild West acting and stunt performances in the days and months ahead. The new entertainment core opened to the public on Saturday, October 13, 2018, with a surprise shootout show at noon. The expansion also includes a major venue for western weddings, known as AZ. Rustic Weddings, a new saloon slated to open in early spring, a restaurant establishment, a new stage for western and headliner musical acts, and other novel accouterments to give guests a full flavor of the West from beginning to end. “FRONTIER TOWN will become a top destination for people seeking Wild West entertainment,” says Peagler. “The industry is abuzz with excitement about this highly anticipated entertainment concept,” says Chaz Lee, director of affairs and stunt coordinator for Six Gun Entertainment. “And best of all, it is located in one of Arizona's most western towns in the heart of Cave Creek.” Peagler says that in addition to the exciting entertainment complex, more enhancements are planned for 2019. FRONTIER TOWN, which is owned by Frontier Enterprises, is located at 6245 E. Cave Creek Road in Cave Creek (frontiertownaz.com) and is one of the oldest, most established western towns and shopping retail locations in Arizona. Six Gun Entertainment, LLC offers headlining, authentic Wild West theatrical stunt and acting performances for special events, stage, film and television, and high-quality production services. “Rawhide" was one of the top western destinations of its time if you remember the old location north of Scottsdale on Scottsdale Road, and I do because “Guns For Hire" the western group I was in, performed there the first year they were open. There were many shops and stores for visitors to browse thru Cave Creek, Arizona Founded 1870, Frontier Town, Established 1970 and restaurants to enjoy cowboy grub. There were horses at the hitch rails, maybe a donkey or two around, some chickens pecking the ground. It was a real walk back in time but sadly it closed in 2005. Now in Frontier Town you can find Chaz Lee & his Six Gun Entertainment crew taking you back to a day of action on the streets of Greasewood Flat where guns were drawn, shots fired, and the argument was settled in a cloud of gunsmoke. This is what Cave Creek needed to anchor it in a place and time in the Old West and it brings back those vivid memories of “Rawhide.” Frontier Town is located in the center of Cave Creek, rich in Old West history. With gold mines surrounding it, and an old stagecoach trail going thru it. It has a museum featuring an operating 10 stamp mill, many photos, and artifacts of the Old West. It is well worth the visit. Cave Creek has many diverse attractions including curio shops, restaurants with Mexican & American menus, competitive bull riding twice a week at the Buffalo Chip Saloon and of course a Circle K for gas & supplies for those traveling visitors. I hope to see you at Frontier Town, look for the Arizona flag shirt, stop and say “howdy” to me the Certified ARIZONA DUUUDE. Above Left: Beverly Peagler, Owner of Frontier Town.
